Sometimes you read what you think is a great book, but are disappointed when you get a chance to meet the author. This did not happen yesterday. For students that had done some work in Continental philosophy (especially Heidegger), yesterday was a real treat. Hemming was down to earth, funny, and probing in his discussion with us. I left as impressed with him as I could be. I got an email from him today and he wanted to thank USU for the very warm welcome he received, pointing out in particular the joy he took in engaging with students (all of whom were very responsive).
For future reference, you should have felt free to come in.
So how was it? I couldn’t make it until about halfway through and felt awkward walking in given the set up of the room.
