Curious about the ways humans use their minds and hearts to distract themselves from the meaninglessness of life.

  1. The music performance on Monday night, for those who couldn’t attend, was quite beautiful and interesting. The LDS choir was wonderful as is a tradition with Mormon choirs, and the Bahai and Pagan performances were especially good for their courage. The girls performing these were braving the stage alone and never let their nerves show. I found it very moving as their faiths are in the minority here and mostly aren’t well understood.
The sermonizing of the Choir instructor was a little surprising, but I was glad he did it. Diversity is meaningless without nobility and passionate depth, and I was thrilled to hear such honest, non condescending devotion to their faith, which was expressed very lovingly both in speech and in music. I wish I could attend Kleiner’s speech tonight, but it doesn’t seem possible. I know it’ll be a great success.
