There is an interesting video discussion here about contemporary philosophy of physics. It’s sorta long, but the issues are interesting. One of the participants is David Albert, a big name in philosophy of physics, who appeared in the execrable film “What the (bleep) do we know?” He explains how he came to be interviewed for that film, and how the producers took what he said and edited so that he ended up sounding like a silly new-ager. Moral for philosophers: don’t expect the media to treat you as you would treat others!

Philosophers’ views on the candidates
Here’s a question from Doug. Who would the great philosophers vote for in the upcoming election? For the purpose of this question, I wish there were greater differences among the candidates; but for my other purposes, I’m glad they’re all roughly the same.

PLATO: McCain. For we all know a guardian must be at least 50 years old, and we all know that while women and men can do the same things, men can do them more excellently.
MARX: Clinton. Because she resonates with “hard-working” Americans (the proletariat).
