Some announcements:
First, we’re currently planning on hiking up to the wind caves in Logan Canyon and re-enacting the allegory of the cave in the caves on Saturday the 23rd at lunch time (starting at 11AM). We want to gauge interest and make sure that this time works for people. So, please fill out this Google Form. https://forms.gle/uKy6VcvoziQha9zZA
Second, Justin has done an awesome job building a Discord server for us! I think it would be great if all the members of the club joined. Here is the link. https://discord.gg/pC79WYugqC (Faculty can join if they want.) There we can facilitate more informal chats, share what we’ve been reading, watching, listening to, etc. If you have any questions about it, direct them to Justin (darksun81@gmail.com).
Finally, we are planning on having a get-to-know you social activity on Tuesday the 19th, before the planned date for the wind caves meeting. Stay tuned for another announcement about that soon.
Started in 2021, the Latter-Day Saint Philosophy Project aims to support philosophical scholarship that engages with the theological tradition of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. The 2023 workshop is aimed at promoting philosophical reflections on Latter-day Saint practices, so presented papers will be engaging philosophically with some aspect(s) of Latter-day Saint practices (broadly construed). Workshop sessions will be 50 minutes long, with roughly 25 minutes for presentation and 25 for Q&A.
The conference will be held next weekend, September 15-16, 2023, at Brigham Young University. Those with questions/requests for accommodations, etc., may contact the organizers at ldsphilosophyproject[at]gmail[dot]com.
Additional information is available here: https://ldsphilosophyproject.humwp.byu.edu/events/
This Tuesday, 4:30-5:30, in Main 207
Our plan for the meeting is to get to know each other and plan our activities for the semester. If there is anything philosophical that you’d want to discuss, or some activity that sounds fun for you, please show up and share your ideas!
