Colloquium Next Thursday, Sept 25 with Dr. Karen Mizell (UVU, Philosophy)

Abstract: Children are too often regarded as “not-yet-persons, “silenced, underestimated, and even treated as possessions. Yet across the world, they also appear in strikingly different roles: as soldiers, as workers, and as advocates for peace and social justice. This talk examines the prejudice of “childism” and the risks we take when we fail to recognize children’s place in the global community. Their voices matter, in philosophy, in shaping social and political life, and in offering models for the future we are building together.
