Call for applicants to Phi Sigma Tau
I am now issuing a general call for students wishing to join Phi Sigma Tau, the national honors society in philosophy. The basic lowdown is this: you pay $25 to be registered with the national office, and you get to participate in a glorious induction ceremony and dinner at my house, and when you graduate you get to wear a dignified blue stole – and you carry the honor with you for the rest of your life. You basically have to have done well in three philosophy classes, and have something like a “B” overall gpa.
Send me a note at charlie.huenemann@usu.edu if you’d like to join. IF YOU HAVE ALREADY TOLD ME YOU WOULD LIKE TO JOIN, please tell me again, as I have kept a list but am not fully confident it is complete.

USU alumna now philosophy professor
I’m proud to report that one of our students has now been offered an assistant professorship in philosophy at Sacred Heart University in Connecticut. Anna Vaughn graduated from USU in 2001 in philosophy and literary studies, and went on to the University of Utah to complete a dissertation (on the Molyneux problem) under Lex Newman. I’m doubly proud since she is the first of my students to land an assistant professorship in philosophy! Congratulations, Anna!
