Brownbag change
Note the change in day and time for our Philosophy Brown Bag. Fridays at 11:30 seems to work better for some students, with no complaints from the others who were there last Wednesday.
What are you reading?
What philosophical books is everyone reading these days, outside of class? I just finished Kugel’s How to Read the Bible (very interesting; I’ll post about it soon on huenemanniac); am about to start Everything Must Go by Ladyman and Ross; and am midway through Nadler’s The Best of All Possible Worlds.
What religion should you be?
Religion, Culture, Politics
Not a philosophy post (sorry, Huenemann, to religify our blog), but of interest to those interested in religion and culture:
As a former Anglican (Episcopalian) and now Catholic, the recent Papal invitation to Anglicans to convert has been of considerable interest. It appears some, and perhaps many, will take the Pope up on his offer (the Archbishop of Westminster has already expressed his interest). There are lots of things at work here, and this article in the Times does a nice job of sorting some of them out.
