Reading Group

Hello everyone,

I hope your semesters are going well. A few students and I are going to start a reading group this semester. We were thinking of reading Christine Korsgaard’s Sources of Normativity or perhaps one of the new theological introductions to the Book of Mormon that former USU professor Philip Barlow co-edited. We are having our first meeting this Tuesday (10/28) at 4:00 on the quad by Old Main. I would like to invite you all to come. We can make final decisions about what to read then depending on what people are more interested in.

Philosophy Bowl and Philosophy Club

Two upcoming events to consider entering into your calendar:

  1. There will be an organizational meeting for Ethics Bowl: Wednesday, September 8, 3 pm, RWST 214. If you are interested but cannot attend, please contact Dr. Robison at rachel.robison@usu.edu. Ethics Bowl is sort of like Debate, arguing over questions of social ethics and applied ethics, though in a more constructive and collegial atmosphere.
  2. There will be a kick-off meeting for Philosophy Club: Wednesday, September 15, 3 pm, RWST 214. Again, let Dr. Robison know if you are interested but cannot attend!

NYU undergrad conference

This note received:

Greetings from the Annual Philosophy Conference @ NYU (AUPC @ NYU)! We sincerely invite you to join our virtual conference on May 22nd & 23rd. We hope you can share this invitation with your philosophy students.

Introducing the Annual Undergraduate Philosophy Conference 2021 at NYU

AUPC@NYU envisions not only offering a platform for undergraduate philosophy students to share their work and have thought-provoking discussions with their peers, but also fostering a supportive network among philosophy students. Along with paper discussion sessions, AUPC@NYU will also host guest speeches, graduate study panels, and networking events.

In the times of a global pandemic, we see the value of asking and exploring important questions. Witnessing the world looking to achieve a new equilibrium, we believe that fostering philosophical discussions is of unique value.
